Reinstating Native Jungle – Beng Tree Planting Program

Emerald has committed to biodiversity across our operational footprint, including reinstating native jungle. Since 2018 more than 10,500 trees have been planted, the majority in the Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary. Our 2023 Beng tree planting saw 3352 trees added to our biodiversity sites.

Our 2024 planting program will focus on the northern Orman offset site, with planting scheduled to allow for safe river crossing. This will be complemented by our school nursery program where local schools grow native plants for use in our tree planting program.

Jahoo are also finalising a tree species identification booklet to enable other important species to be grown as a source of habitat for gibbon and to increase biodiversity in our offset.
